Dueling with the Couches

So I have been asked by another blogger to write a weekly article on my favorite TV show Lost. I accepted the invitation right away, not knowing what I got myself into. This site duelingcouches.com gets a little over a thousand hits a day. Last week was my first Lost article and I felt so much pressure on my article being perfects. As I worked on it for hours I realized that it can't be perfect, because Lost is so damb complicated. Who actually even knows everything that is going on? There is so much that happens in each episode it is insane. There is so much one could potentially think, know, and predict. Anyway I took notes during the whole show, and tried my best. I was nervous sending my article over to duelingcouches, cause I really didn't know what they would think of it. Turns out he liked it and told me I did a good job. I didn't even look on the website to read my article over or see what people commented on it because I was so nervous... until yesterday. The comments people made were awesome and I really appreciated how one person said that I did a good job. Anyway here is the article, and hopefully this weeks episode will be a little less complicated.

Lost

Wow. So much goes on in each episode of Lost that sometimes it is hard to keep track of what is going on. Here are some recaps, ideas, and questions I have after watching this week’s episode of Lost.

Ben is obviously the one who hired the lawyer to mess with everyone’s head, for his main goal of going back to the island.

The Oceanic 6 are all off the island and in three years in the future… so, how much time has gone by for the ones who stayed on the island? Even though time keeps changing to different points in time… how much actual time has passed since the Oceanic 6 has left.

Ben hired a lawyer to get Hurley out of jail, and just happens to be the same lawyer that has contacted Kate about doing a blood test on Aaron to make sure he really is her baby. Ben is trying to make Kate scared so she will want to go back to the island. But is it just a coincidence that Claire’s mom just happened to have the same lawyer? Is Hurley going to get out of jail, and if so will he go back to the island? Who was the guy trying to shoot Said with the tranquilizer gun? Was it an employee of Ben, trying to get him back to the island?

What is going on with these nosebleeds? We have somewhat figured out that it has some relationship to how long everyone has been on the island for. Charlotte spent the most time on island, hence gets the nosebleeds first. Could Charlotte actually be the girl Anne we saw in last week’s episode? Or could it be Anne’s daughter?

Miles has obviously spent time on the island before, because he is the one who starts’ getting the nosebleeds next. But supposedly he doesn’t remember being on the island before… What is this about?
And why does Juliet start getting nosebleeds?

What was up with Kate’s dream about Claire saying that Kate should not bring back Aaron to the island? And where is Claire? Is Kate going to go back to the island, and is Aaron going to go with her?

Why is Sun in LA? Sun is freaking out about pictures she found of Jack and Ben together in recent days. But what is her main objective and will she go back to the island? Is she working with Charles Whitmore?

So what is going on with these time travel flashes? We know that Locke and Sawyer both knew what time it was because Locke saw the light coming from the hatch… which resembles the time after Boon died in the plane accident. After Locke saw Boon die he went to the hatch and started banging on it, when finally he saw the light. But why did John want to avoid the hatch?

Sawyer knew time was in the past when he saw Kate delivering Claire’s baby. It was crazy how Locke told Sawyer that Kate is still alive. And Jack told Kate that Sawyer was still alive. Is this going to be another reason for Kate to go back to the island?

Who are the people that were shooting at Sawyer, Locke, Juliet, and crew when they got on the paddleboat? And when in time was that? Thank god a flash happened…. Sawyer was almost dead.

Jin is back! And was rescued by the French people… weird thing about this is that Jin can speak English, yet he is nearly 30 years in the past. Indeed the French lady was Russo; we could of all of guessed before she even said her name. We found out how Danielle Russo got to the island and that she was indeed pregnant before she got to the island. Following along with the theory that only women who get pregnant off the island stay alive. Also Russo’s daughter is clearly not Ben’s biological father. The radio that is playing in the background of this seen, has someone reading the numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42… what does this mean?

Overall I thought it was a very good episode we are learning a lot by the time flashes and know that the Oceanic 6 needs to go back to the island to get everything figures out… but the real question is are they all going to actually agree to go back to the island? Locke still has to get off the island, when is that going to happen? I can’t wait for next week!

  1. Kel,
What an amazing analysis! I am quite impressed, especially since we watched it together last week. Keep the good work up, man! I can't wait for tonight's episode. I hope it's another good one.
